Increase the warfarin again ………..

Sep 24, 2014

Bloods still low – my INR is down to 1.6 now. So my warfarin dose has been increased again to 13/14mg alternate days. Still mapping out what I eat and taking photos – have been uploading them to my warfarin diet on Pinterest to keep a record because I can imagine no-one will believe me when they see my INR decreasing that I am eating healthy foods with limited vitamin K.

Hmmm, wonder if potassium has anything to do with it. Think I may investigate further.  Crickey, I am so glad I have the time to investigate all of this.  If I had a job, how would I get this done?  Why is this stuff not in any of the books I have read, or if I do find some research to read why is it so complicated?  I am putting together a book from my research and I am going to make it so straightforward that even someone like me can understand it.  By ‘someone like me’ I mean that I am dyslexic, exhausted and slowly going round the bend with trying to work out this ‘keep your INR within range’ nonsense!  Right now it feels like it is not possible.  It makes me wonder if there is anyone out there who manages to keep their INR stable.  My picture of this person is someone who has days of the week set out with exactly the same meals every week, same portions, same, same, same… ah!!  I never do anything the same.  I like variety, I want to try new things.  Consistency they call it… more like constraints!

shopping meal planning

Okay, I will try keeping to an eating plan. I have tried to find a diet sheet or menu planner online.  Considering the amount diet is talked about I have been unable to find much. So, I have made my own.  I have set up a two week eating plan and shopping list.  Let’s see how that goes and whether my INR increases.

Note to self:  map out potassium levels in food

Bloods again in a few days. I know some people find it a pain going to get bloods taken regularly but I am grateful that someone is keeping an eye on things because I haven’t got the hang of this yet. So I am quite happy to go in and get checked.
