Still Feeling as Rough as a Rough Thing…

pony feeling rough

I still haven’t been feeling back on track again so I asked for another blood test to check my INR. I had it taken a couple of days ago and I have just phoned in to get the result.

1.8

So it’s only moved 0.2 but Doc still wants me to stay on 12 and 13mg. I know sometimes INR can jump quite quickly so not sure if he is just being cautious.

Having a low INR doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence about travelling back down to London. I will have to sit on the train for 4 hours and then go on the Tube so I will need to try and keep my legs moving.  It’s the indigestion that’s the most painful thing at the moment.  I keep taking Omeprazole and Domperidone for the indigestion and trying to eat foods that are lighter.

The plus side of having a low INR?

I’m going to have a couple of drinks when I’m away! I won’t take more than a glass or two of wine in one night.  Gone are my party days now that I am on Warfarin!  Having a couple of drinks should help bring my INR up a little.  It won’t keep it up for long though because alcohol doesn’t seem to stay in the body for long periods.

Actually - note to self – maybe I should work out how long it takes in the average person for alcohol to thin the blood and then go out of the blood system.  I’m sure there must be some research on this.  Similarly, I wonder how long it takes for vitamin K to be absorbed into the blood stream from food that we eat and how long it stays there.  Perhaps there is someone out there who already knows the answers to all of this and can help me out??
